What Is a Caravan Mover?
A caravan mover is a compact, motor-driven system mounted onto your caravan’s chassis, giving you full control over your caravan’s movements without needing your tow vehicle. Using a remote control, the mover engages with the tyres and allows the caravan to move forward, reverse, rotate, and steer with exceptional accuracy.

How Caravan Movers Work?
Caravan movers operate using high-torque 12V electric motors and durable rollers that clamp onto your caravan’s tyres. Once engaged, each motor drives the wheels independently, allowing for precise directional control — ideal for tight parking spaces, steep driveways, and uneven terrain.
The system runs off your caravan’s existing battery and is engineered to protect both the tyres and chassis while delivering strong performance.

While some DIY installations are possible, professional installation ensures correct alignment, chassis protection, wiring safety, and warranty compliance. A badly-fitted mover can damage tyres, frames, or electrics — so professional fitting is strongly recommended.
Yes. Quality movers like PowrTouch and Ewiks are designed to operate on uneven and unpaved surfaces. However, very loose sand or deep mud can reduce traction, just like with a tow vehicle.
Most movers run off a 12V deep cycle battery and use surprisingly little power. A healthy 102Ah battery (recommended for PowrTouch & Ewiks Auto) can operate the mover several times before needing a recharge.

PowrTouch also offers all-wheel drive options for double-axle caravans.
Yes. Both Ewiks and PowrTouch offer models for tandem axle caravans. For the best manoeuvrability on twin axles, PowrTouch All-Wheel Drive provides full control of both axles.
Caravan movers add a small amount of weight (typically around 35–40kg), but they are mounted low on the chassis and do not affect towing performance or stability when installed correctly.
They are low-maintenance systems, but periodic checks are recommended for:
- Roller wear
- Cable connections
- Chassis mounting bolts
- Battery condition
A quick inspection once or twice a year is usually enough.

Most movers include manual disengagement, allowing you to safely tow the caravan even if the electronics fail. Keeping a spare remote battery is also recommended.
